Africa Week

This is Africa Week at St. David’s!

On Wednesday, representatives from Comfort the Children will be speaking at our weekly soup supper and presentation.

Holy Eucharist and Healing at 5:30 P.M. Then Soups on at 6:30 with the Africa presentation at 7:15 P.M.

Representatives of CTC will also be with us on Sunday morning from 9:50-10:30 in the Parish Hall and at the 10:45 A.M. service. The music at the 10:45 A.M. service will continue with the African Theme.

Alice Johnston has engaged the parish in supporting her missionary work and we congratulate and thank her.

9:50 - 10:30 Christian Education, High School

10:30 - 12:00 Open for all high school students who have already attended a service that morning or the previous Saturday night.

Fun Days (Last Sunday of every month)

9:00 - 10:30 Youth Center open to all middle and high school students

10:30 - 12:00 Youth Center open to all middle and high school students who have already attended a service that morning or the previous Saturday night.

Lent at St. David’s

Lent continues at St. David’s with our regular service schedule with the exception of St. David’s Day on March 7th.

During Lent each service will bear a Lenten difference, and the nave is ready for this holy season.

Mondays at 5:30pm, Stations of the Cross will be prayed followed by a brief meditation on one of the stations.

Tuesdays at 12:30pm, Mtr. Barbara Bloxsom will be leading a Bible Study, bring a sack lunch if you wish.

Wednesdays at 7:00 A.M. the Seabrook Area Churches unite for a program and breakfast at each of the churches.

Wednesday evenings begin with Holy Eucharist and Healing at 5:30 P.M.

Soup Supper at 6:30 and a program follows.

New Wardens and Vestry elected

Alan Johnson SW, and Earl Olson JW for 2010

Spencer Duncan, Anne Hesse and Earl Olson were elected by the people of St. David’s Episcopal Church to serve on the Vestry from 2010-2013. Tuck Duncan was elected as a Delegate and Marcia Ransom was elected as an alternate to meetings of the Northwest Convocation of churches and our Diocesan Convention. Doug Jennings and Van Chang were elected as members of the Endowment Board.

At the meeting of the newly elected Vestry following the Annual Meeting, Alan Johnson was named Senior Warden, Earl Olson Junior Warden, Jim Edwards Treasurer and Mary Hillin Clerk for 2o1o. Terry Martinez will represent the Vestry on the Endowment Board while Alan Fries will continue to serve as the Vestry’s Representative on the Executive Committee.

The Vestry will continue to meet on the 4th Tuesday of each week. The next meeting will take place as part of the Vestry retreat on February 12-13, 2010 at Mt. Saint Scholastica in Atchison.

The Rector presented his annual address as part of the 10:45 Holy Eucharist.

Shrove Tuesday

St. David’s Youth Group members served a lot of pancakes on Shrove Tuesday. They helped serve the food and helped with the clean up. We had some awesome table bussers! The folks doing the cooking were awesome, as usual. Proceeds from Shrove Tuesday will go towards the youth group trip this summer. It was a great first fundraising event, and there will be more in the future.
